I’ve been in the helping profession as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC, LPC) in Kansas and Missouri for the last 8 years. I have worked in many different settings and have a well-rounded, holistic view of therapy. This view includes building a strengths-focused relationship, which promotes exploration and openness to new experiences. I like to maintain a variety of different ways to help clients, so I focus on thought patterns, decision-making, relationships and emotional experiences. I am goal oriented, empathetic, and believe in using the power of each person’s innate strengths to help him or her overcome obstacles--an approach I developed while earning my Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology at the University of Kansas.
I have a wealth of clinical experience providing individual, family, and group therapy in Spanish and English. Over the years, I have developed a well-established understanding of anxiety, depression, and trauma-related disorders. I enjoy working with both teens and adults on a multitude of topics including:
· Relational distress
· Developing healthy coping skills
· School-related concerns
· Immigration-related concerns
· Life stressors and adjustment to change (including cultural adaptation)
· Emotion regulation
· Self esteem
· LGBTQ+ concerns.
In my work with clients, my focus begins in building a trusting connection through empathy and humor. I am trained in a variety of therapeutic approaches. Sessions with me are collaborative, and together we will develop the unique direction and pace of treatment that best suits your needs.
