I am truly passionate about helping others. I have worked with individuals of all ages and with families in a variety of contexts for over 10 years. I strongly believe that each of us are born with our own inner strength that will enable us to facing our personal struggles in life. My primary goal is to help clients reconnect with that inner strength, while assisting them to grow and to heal in a safe and supportive environment.
I view therapy as a partnership in which I meet clients at their emotional level and support them as they face challenges during the healing process. My clinical interests include family conflict, school and performance anxiety, depression, grief and loss, behavioral problems, life transitions, trauma, and relationship difficulties, including peer and/or work relationships.
I rely on a variety of effective approaches in working with my clients, and often use them in combination to achieve positive growth. These include Cognitive Behavioral Theory (CBT), mindfulness, Solution Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. Additionally, in treating traumatized adults from age 18 to 80, I also employ Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). EMDR is an emerging therapy technique that few therapists are able to effectively offer, and which has been demonstrated to effectively treat clients who suffer the effects of trauma and post-traumatic stress.
I will soon be able to accept Medicaid. For self-pay clients and clients who have other health insurance and would like to schedule on a self-pay basis, my self-pay rate is $95 per session. I am also able to offer a sliding-scale session fee to a limited number of clients who are experiencing financial hardship and who may otherwise be unable to afford therapy.
